Make Your Work Time Much More EfficientWork efficiency is a primary concern for most people, and it seems like sometimes it is hard to get out of a low motivation slump. Read more about five ways to make your time at work count, and how to better prepare for slow days in the future.

Create To-Do Lists – And Stick With Them

To-Do lists are the easiest way to track how much you’ve done for the day, week, month, and year. At the very least, use a calendar to manage your day so you don’t over schedule tasks and can set realistic goals.

If you’re planning on tracking your to-do lists for the year, finding a digital medium to do so. There are many task and to-do apps that you can download for your phone or tablet. Otherwise, keeping a small notebook or journal with handwritten notes is a good option.

Eat Healthy Snacks

Your brain needs the proper nutrition to work efficiently, including when you snack. It is tempting to go to the vending machine when you’re stressed, but that will actually hinder your work performance. At the beginning of every week, stock your office area with healthy bars, fruit, bottled/flavored waters, and a couple of cheat snacks to keep your cravings at bay. At lunch, pick something substantial but not heavy, because sitting down for long periods of time will make it hard to work off extra calories.

Take Breaks

Take a break every 45 minutes to an hour, especially from looking at your computer screen. Staring at a computer screen can strain your eyes and cause migraines. Sitting down for too long can cause your body to shut down, so a brisk walk outside or throughout the office can help wake your senses up without resorting to too much caffeine.

Organize Your Desk

Employees spend a lot of time searching for documents or procrastinating by looking for things that are lost in a messy desk. Take the time before or after the work day to set yourself up for success and know where things are when your boss or colleagues ask. Sometimes, buying your own desktop organizer rather than resorting to the office furniture given to you will end up making a big difference.

Catch Enough Sleep

This piece of advice never gets any less true – getting enough sleep every night is the most effective way to feel refreshed in the morning. There are many things that can hinder a consistent 7-8 hours per night, so the key is to create a consistent schedule and stick to it.
